Community Services

Our programs provide direct assistance to individuals needing support related to housing navigation, food resources, health and wellness. We recognize that meeting basic needs is essential for our community to thrive, so creating better access to these services is our priority.

El Mercadito (The Little Market)

El Mercadito (The Little Market) is a food pantry operated by Mission Action, providing essential and culturally appropriate groceries to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity. Our market-style pantry offers a variety of fresh produce, grains, proteins, and other staples to ensure members can prepare healthy, culturally relevant meals at home. The distribution takes place every Wednesday and Friday from 1 PM to 4 PM, where members can select food items according to their needs.

Arcoiris officially launched in October 2023 and, like El Mercadito, we have been providing culturally relevant food boxes free of charge to low-income San Franciscans who identify as LGBTQ+. These food boxes address the unique dietary and cultural needs of our community for those in need. We partner with a wide range of organizations to deliver these food boxes, making a collective impact through collaboration.

Find food boxes (when) through our partners:

Lyon-Martin Community Health Services, SF LGBT Center, Casa Esperanza (Larkin Street Youth Services), Our Family Coalition, Mission Neighborhood Resource Center, HYPE Center, and Freedom Forward.

Through these partnerships, we reach more individuals and families, providing essential support in the fight against food insecurity for our LGBTQ+ community. Together, we are making a difference.

Community Wellness Program (Nuestro Bienestar)

Community Wellness Program (Nuestro Bienestar) utilizes a Health Promoter model to ensure that all Latinx and Indigenous people living in San Francisco are connected to the services and care they need. Our team of Health Promoters links clients to medical care, psychosocial support, economic relief, food assistance, legal aid, vocational services, and more.

Now located at Casa Quezada, the program continues to provide health promotion services such as care plan identification, referrals, and health education to meet stabilization needs.

Access Point

The Mission Access Point is one of several primary entry points for adults experiencing homelessness in the city. These programs connect clients to the San Francisco Coordinated Entry system, which is the overall system of programs and housing opportunities.

Clients can call or visit the Access Point to complete an assessment for housing. If eligible, clients will be referred to an appropriate housing program. Access Point staff will support clients with coordinating the documents and steps needed for move-in. For clients who are not eligible for housing placement, Access Point staff will provide problem solving services to explore and identify the best potential options available.

To connect with the Mission Access Point, please call (415) 857-7762.

Aid & Subsidy

Aid & Subsidy Program The Aid & Subsidy Program supports families facing housing insecurity by providing stipends to landlords to help cover monthly rental payments specifically assisting mixed-status families living in RAD and HOPE SF housing programs, particularly those who are low to extremely low-income. To qualify, families must face a severe rent burden, typically paying more than 50% of their monthly income toward rent.

Mission Action collaborates closely with social service providers and case managers to ensure that families not only receive rental assistance but also have access to additional resources they may need for long-term success.
