Mission Action and our partners at Larkin Street Youth Services celebrated the grand opening of Casa Colibrí, a supportive housing program for young adults ages 18 to 24 experiencing homelessness.
The former Mission Inn was transformed into a safe and welcoming space with 50 units designed to support youth as they work toward stability, healing, and independence. Residents have access to private bathrooms and kitchenettes, onsite laundry, wellness groups, case management, educational support, and mental health resources.
At the grand opening, city leaders spoke about the importance of investing in San Francisco’s young people and creating spaces where youth can feel safe, supported, and empowered to build their futures.
Resident speaker Deani Lyons shared how Casa Colibrí changed her life after experiencing instability and domestic violence.
“Being here has honestly changed me mentally and emotionally in a really positive way. It’s helped me gain more courage, stability, and confidence within myself…Confidence and love start with feeling safe and supported where you live.”
Another participant, Adrian, reminded attendees that Casa Colibrí is about more than housing.
“Today we celebrate more than just a grand opening. We celebrate hope, community, dignity, and new opportunities”
Casa Colibrí shows what can happen when young people have support, stability, and a community that believes in them.
